OUR STORY

My name is David (Dave) Gelling. I've been married to my fantastic wife, Susan (Sue) Gelling since April 1984. We have two wonderful girls, one a vet in the UK and the other a missionary in Zambia.

I've been camping since I was a young child, with my parents. I introduced Sue to camping when we got married. We've camped with tents, caravans and our off road trailer.

I've now "retired" (retrenched from Finastra due to company restructuring) and we have time to travel. We have started this venture to share with other like minded people the wonders of camping and the thrill of getting out and about in South Africa, as well as the rest of Southern Africa (Namibia, Zambia, Lesotho, Botswana and Eswatini.

We enjoy overlanding (not the kind that will wreck your vehicle and trailer) and especially the remote, quiet, tranquil and scenic places.

We have travelled all over various countries :

South Africa - Travelled to Upington, the Kalahari, Namaqualand, down the West Coast to Cape Town.  From there all along the coast to Knysna, Jefferies Bay, Port Elizabeth and East London. Through the Transkei and along the Natal coasts. Through Zululand to St Lucia and the Drakensburg. Have travelled to many of the game parks and reserves. In fact have travelled through all Provinces.

Botswana - Travelled to the Okavango, Chobe and places in between. Visited the Central Kalahari and Moremi and travelled the back roads there.

Namibia - From the Fish River Canyon to Epupa Falls and most of the in-between places, Sossusvlei, Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, the ghost towns, Twyfelfontein, Etosha as well as the Kaprivi (now Zambezi) region and Katima Mulilo.

Zambia - From Sesheke, along the Zambizi to Mongu and also into the Sioma Ngwezi National Park and up to Sinjembela (along a 80km track that takes 3.5 hours).

Mozambique - from the Kruger Park, through the Limpopo National Park to Bilene and Xai-Xai and through Maputo.
